MeDMUN's Parliamentary Procedure Philosophy
MeDMUN strives to use a basic and simple parliamentary procedure across all of its committees. We want parliamentary procedure to help define the playing field and allow the committee to move forward. We train our moderators and legal chairs to implement parliamentary procedure with a light hand. Our goal is that a more simplistic and accessible parliamentary procedure will allow for a faster paced committee session, parliamentary procedure should elevate the experience, not detract from it.
With this in mind, this page contains resources to understand MeDMUN's parliamentary procedure. Below we have our formal rule of procedure, which outlines our official rules in detail. We have segmented that document into a MeDMUN Rules of Procedure that will be used in our committees that work to pass a resolution, principally the General Assembly and Specialized Agency committees; and a MeDMUN Crisis Rules of Procedure, which will be used in committees or sessions where delegates tackle a crisis scenario. These two documents will include a list of key terms, key motions, a description of the flow of our committee sessions, sample resolutions, directives, crisis notes, and an FAQ.
All delegates will be provided a paper copy of the MeDMUN Rules of Procedure or MeDMUN Crisis Rules of Procedure depending on their assigned committee.
